I ran across a post about the 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse. I saw that my classmate had lost 9 pounds in 4 days, so I decided to give it a try. By the end of the 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse, he had lost 17 pounds and his wife had lost 8.
If you do it the way it is written, without modification, The Green Smoothie Cleanse is a challenge. I have been on it for 4 days, and I have lost 5 pounds, so I know it works. You eat between 36-42 ounces of one of JJ Smith's custom smoothies throughout the day. The smoothie includes ingredients like spinach, kale, spring mix, apples, peaches, bananas, strawberries, blueberries and mangos. The smoothies also include flax seed and optional protein.
My classmate and his wife tried the modified version, where you can have one light meal, usually for dinner. I have decided that I may need to go that route as well... Doing the plan with just the smoothie itself is challenging. If you do the plan as written, you can have snacks in between the breakfast, lunch and dinner smoothies. The snacks I had were apple slices (fruit), boiled eggs (protein) and raw peanuts (protein). I have gone through a ridiculous amount of apples and eggs because I am constantly hungry. That is good and bad because it means my metabolism is moving, but it also means I am eating a lot more than I usually do, and I am not sure how that will compromise my weightloss success.
I recommend the The Green Smoothie Cleanse if you are disciplined and resolved to lose weight and become more healthy. If you lack discipline, you may not make it past the first few days. For newbies to the green smoothie world like me, I recommend the Modified Green Smoothie Cleanse. It takes will power to pass up, meat, milk, cereal, salad dressing (on salads) and hot food.
The question is, can I hang on another 6 days... :-/
